A lineage you can trace

Some of Singapore's finest fencers took their very first lesson on our piste. Many went on to wear national colours, and some have opened salles of their own. We do not claim their every win as ours, but we are proud that their journey started here, and we celebrate each of them.

Fencers who trained with us have gone on to win medals at the SEA Games and the Asian Games, and many more have worn national colours past and present across Foil, Sabre and Épée. Former students of Coach Jeffrey have also become coaches, led programmes and established salles across Singapore. When fencers leave our piste to build the sport elsewhere, we take it as the truest measure of what we teach.

How our competitors prepare

Results on this page are not accidents of talent. Fencers here train to a syllabus rather than a lesson invented that week, and a competitive fencer goes to a tournament with a plan for the bout, not just a warm-up: who they are likely to meet, what that opponent tends to do, and what to change when the first plan stops working.

That preparation is the part a scoreline never shows. It is also the part a fencer keeps: knowing how to read an opponent and adjust mid-bout outlasts any single competition, and it is the difference between a fencer who wins when things go to plan and one who wins when they do not.

Hall of Fame

A champion here is not only a national or international medallist. It is every fencer who has stood on a podium for us, whether at an intraclub bout, the National School Games, or a regional final, across every age group from under 8 to Cadet, Junior and Senior, in Foil, Sabre and Épée.

This Hall of Fame is maintained by the club and updated as results come in. Our history runs back to the 1970s, when founder Jeffrey Lopez began coaching. Highlights include CHOY Fong Leng's Épée Gold at the 1989 SEA Games, Ryan ONG's Commonwealth and World Cadet success through the 2010s, and SITO Jian Tong's World Junior Championship and SEA Games golds. Many of our fencers have gone on to represent Singapore internationally, and some have returned to coach the next generation.
